Ski tours

South Korea is about 70% mountainous, so it’s no surprise Koreans have come to enjoy the mountains during all four seasons. During the other three seasons, hikers dominate the rocks throughout the countryside; during the winter, however, it’s time to slice through the air on skis or snowboards!

Winter sports are still fairly new in Korea – the first ski resort opened in 1975, and the majority of ski resorts have been renovated or expanded in the past decade to accommodate a growing demand. South Korea’s enthusiasm for winter sports has helped the city of Pyeongchang become the host city for the 2018 Winter Olympics. Even now, the entire province of Gangwon-do is already looking forward to welcoming the world.

The facilities offer a wide variety of services – everything from ski and snowboard rental to restaurants to other entertainment facilities for the rest of the year. We’ll help you rent everything you need, so there’s no need to bring anything special with you to Korea.

We offer three tours to help you go skiing or snowboarding:

The first is a one-day trip to the nation’s first indoor skiing arena and spa – we’ll have snow no matter what the weather is doing outside! After taking in the slopes and more challenging mogul course (if you like), we’ll relax in the facility’s indoor spa and water park area. We’ll return to Seoul for a Korean dinner at one of our favorite restaurants before heading home.

The second is a one-day trip to Yongin, about an hour southeast of Seoul. The 7 slopes and 6 lifts will get you to the top quickly, and the slopes encompass the full range of difficulties from easy to challenging. Every year the National Alpine Ski Competition is held here, on their ‘Challenger’ course. If you need to warm up, an observatory, a bowling alley, and a swimming pool are also part of the resort.

The third is a two-day, one-night trip to Yongpyeong, which is near the home of the future 2018 Winter Olympics. This is the largest winter sports facility in Korea. Yongpyeong’s world-class facilities include 31 slopes (all color-coded) and 15 lifts, ranging from gentle beginners slopes to longer, more extreme routes and everything in-between.

Whichever tour you choose, we’ll arrange to have ski lessons that are given in English, along with the transportation, hotel and restaurant reservations ready for your tour. We’ll also be there to guide you through the ski rental process, and ensure you get the equipment you need.
